01 / How it works

Break the rear loose by exactly as much as you need

The MOZA HBP Handbrake is a sim racing handbrake built for drifting, rally and tight hairpins. The entire body is CNC machined from anodised aviation-grade aluminium, so it takes hard pulls on the lever and does not loosen up over time. The grip is turned with ring ribbing, so your hand finds it without looking. A non-contact 15-bit sensor reads the lever angle, so the handbrake gives a smooth scale rather than a simple on-off switch: you can unstick the rear axle by exactly as much as the corner needs. The springs in the base can be swapped, and with them the force and the length of the pull. The stop position is adjustable too, for a short sharp tug or a long progressive stroke. The lever mounts vertically like a rally car, or horizontally like a road car, with the angle set to suit your hand. It bolts down through M6 threaded holes, beside the rig or in front of the wheel. It connects over USB to a PC, or to a MOZA base with a handbrake port. It measures 153 × 68.3 × 365.5 mm and weighs 0.7 kg. For a desk setup you will also need the MOZA mounting plate and a table clamp, both sold separately.

  1. 01

    A scale, not a switch

The non-contact 15-bit sensor reads the lever angle continuously, so the handbrake behaves as an analogue axis rather than a button. In drifting that means control over how far the rear steps out; in rally it lets you load the car slightly on entry without spinning it. There are no mechanical contacts in the assembly to drift out of calibration over time.

  2. 02

The springs decide how the pull feels

Swappable springs sit in the base: change them and you set the force at the lever, the length of the stroke and the rebound. The stop position is adjusted separately, so you can build a short sharp click with almost no travel, or a long progressive pull you have to lean into. The toolkit for this is already in the box.

  3. 03

Vertical like a rally car, horizontal like a road car

The lever moves between a vertical and a horizontal position, and the angle is set to match your seating and arm length. That also solves the space question: a narrow rig copes better with a horizontal lever at the side, while a roomy one suits the classic vertical stance next to the wheel.

  4. 04

    Aluminium and two ways in

Body and lever are CNC machined from aviation-grade aluminium and anodised, and the ring ribbing on the grip gives the fingers a clear purchase. The sockets sit in the base: the handbrake can hang straight off a PC USB port or feed into a MOZA base with a handbrake port. At just 0.7 kg it does not unbalance the rig.

Compatibility

PC over USB — the handbrake appears as its own game device and works in sims that expose a handbrake axis. Alternatively it plugs into a MOZA base that has a handbrake port. It bolts to profile or a rig bracket through the M6 holes; a desk setup needs the MOZA mounting plate plus a table clamp, both sold separately. Console support is not stated by the manufacturer.

Questions

Do I need a MOZA base to use the handbrake?

No. The HBP plugs into a PC over USB and works as a standalone game device with an analogue axis, no base required. If you do have a MOZA base with a handbrake port, you can route it through the base instead and free up a USB port on the computer.

How do I change the stiffness and travel of the lever?

Springs in the base can be rearranged or replaced, and they set the force, the length of the stroke and the rebound. On top of that you can move the stop that limits travel. The tool you need is in the toolkit that ships with it.

Can it be mounted on a desk, without a rig?

Yes, but not directly: the base only has M6 holes for profile or a bracket. For desks MOZA points to a combination of its mounting plate and the Flight base table clamp; neither part is included with the HBP and both are bought separately.

How does the preorder work and when does it arrive?

The item goes on preorder from 18 November 2026. After a GEEKSHOP manager confirms the order, delivery takes about a month. The manager gives the exact date at confirmation, as it depends on the batch and on logistics.
